McDonald’s Twitter stunt backfires as hecklers hijack hashtag.

McDonald’s wanted to create viral buzz with the Twitter hashtags #MeetTheFarmers and #McDStories with paid tweets that appeared at the top of users’ search results.

McDonald’s wanted their hashtags to go viral, and they did.

@SkipSullivan tweeted: “One time I walked into McDonalds and I could smell Type 2 diabetes floating in the air and I threw up.” #McDStories

Heckler’s like our friend Skip here are flooding Twitter with similar tweets that use McDonald’s hashtag, and Ronald McDonald can’t stop it.
