That awkward moment when technology threatens to birth the Dark Future you’ve heard so much about.  How many fables do we have about investing all of one’s efforts into a single, “unsinkable” idea that.. invariably.. sinks? GM corn has allowed the population to boom, and yet, people starve while we turn a poor substitute for food into a poor substitute for gasoline because we have such excess. How can anyone not see something wrong with this? Sentient or not, Nature’s going to rebalance itself, human initiatives (and, in necessary, populations) be damned.
