My next employer WILL RECOGNIZE ALL THE HOLIDAYS and let me take the day off without utilizing my vacation time. I’ve decided that I don’t want to work for someone where its so damn important, we can’t enjoy the three-day-weekends our other colleagues do.

You should hear our vacation/holiday policy. We have 6 holidays off; New Years, Memorial, 4th, Labor, TG and Christmas. IF a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday we observe Friday or Monday, unless that holiday is New Years or 4th, because those aren’t major holidays. We also get the Friday after TG off without pay.

]]>that sounds much like mine, although that at least pay me for ‘family day’. They also put all my sick-time and vacation time int eh same bucket, and then impose all these rules and restrictions on how much we can bank. which i’ll be in violation of at least one of… i’m not going into a new year with less than 40 hours banked in case i get sick. which runs me afoul of going into the new year with more than I came into this year with.
