I’m so proud of this team, and especially one of my closest friends, Scott McCloskey for this incredible accomplishment of drilling on Mars. What’s immediately so cool about this is that you can see the rock is grey on the inside and not the reddish-brown we typically associate with Mars. That’s because the interior hasn’t been weathered in the same way as the outside. And that’s exactly what we’re hoping for – to get this sample that hasn’t been damaged over the years into the rover for analysis. Who knows what we’ll find, but this is absolutely huge. Can’t wait to see what it is!
