Kind of excited about the forthcoming enhancements to my Xbox Live experience.

Kind of excited about the forthcoming enhancements to my Xbox Live experience. Still wish they wouldn’t make stuff that requires a subscription with the content provider (Netflix, HBO Go) only availalbe for gold members though. Why should people have to pay extra (as in a Gold Membership) if they’re already subscribers with the 3rd party?

  1. I would like to say that it us just another example of content providers not understanding the new digital period, but this one is Microsoft not getting that merely providing the accesses point to those services makes their product more desirable and instead attempting to make a few bucks off the whole deal.

  4. In the case of Netflix, I wish they were a little more ballsy with Microsoft. The exact same service is free on PS3s and Wiis.

Although I suppose for people like me who don’t do much online multiplayer, its really the only compelling reason to have a Gold account. (Since Netflix was a strong factor in my decision to keep a Gold account…. my former-employee discount that makes Gold rather cheap notwithstanding.)

  7. It does bother me a bit – it’s why we Netflix on our PS3 and Wii and not our 360. Surprisingly, the Wii seems to be the easiest: no additional charge and no need for a disc.
