I avoid flying as much as possible to avoid/protest the aviation security theatre. The TSA loves to stop me for random additional screenings, though it does happen less when I have traveling companions. It probably would make more sense to fly, given the distance.

I used to enjoy flying, too, though River is not so fond of it. Now, I do it when there is no practical alternative (e.g. visiting Taiwan). The US needs high-speed rail.
