No. It’s an insect spy drone for urban areas, already in production, funded by the US Government. It can be remotely controlled and is equipped with a camera and a microphone.
It can land on you, and it may have the potential to take a DNA sample or leave RFID tracking nanotechnology on your skin. It can fly through an open window, or it can attach to your clothing until you take it in your home.

]]>I’ve seen this photo before, which was a concept image.. I have no idea where all of that text about its capabilities came from. I’m pretty sure it’s hypothetical, if not just made up by whoever posted it for scare appeal. If they have something like this, they’re not telling us about it. 😉
]]>This may not be a real bug… but they are definitely being developed… if not already fielded. It does strike me as a somewhat silly attempt to spy though. People generally don’t like bugs and if we saw one like this crawling on our clothing, would proably smash it. I don’t imagine they’re all that cheap.
Still it would be better to get ahead of this, legal-wise… rather than sort that out after the fact via lawsuits.
