It’s illegal here to leave kids in the car because they kept getting heat stroke like this and dying while parents grabbed groceries,… This is the same problem; there has to be air conditioning if you leave a living thing in an enclosed space. Outside is fine, even when very hot, but inside is deadly.

Most of the time, that’s the only option for flying pets. Unless they fit into the small carriers, they have to go in cargo. This is scary. Something is going wrong because usually it isn’t a problem. People fly pets all the time.

We have strict laws here now on leaving our dogs in cars. I mean, i get this guy thought he had mitigated all the risk, but really. Its like this mentality of dogfood. Not good enough for me, but good enough for my pet to eat? Really? And you claim to love the dog like it was your child? I just don’t get it.

The point is.. would you fly yourself in the cargo hold? No? Why? Don’t those reasons apply to your pet too? The reality is, having pets sometimes means curtailing your own travel. I will never fly my dogs unless they get to ride in the same enclosed space I do. Which means one of them will not be flying, as he’s too big to fit under the seat in front of me. It also means I’m not visiting family for the holidays, as I would need to bring the pack with me.

You always have the option to not travel, because you took on the responsibility of being a pet parent. I feel for him, but I don’t absolve him of all responsibility. He took a risk, tried to mitigate it, and that’s never a guarantee. I choose not to take the risk at all.
