Yes, every little thing I do is magic.

  1. illegal robocalling aside…  i should have the ability to opt-out of what’s legal in that regard too.   I might actually pay to shut some of those calls down.

  4. we already have the ability to opt out.  the FTC do not call list.  if you put your number on there, it’s illegal for nearly everyone to call you for spamming etc.  ’tis very limited who can call you

  7. that’s the catch though, its an opt-out of lots of calls, but not all calls… which basically boils down to.. okay, consituent, you don’t like this and i’ll pass a law to put a stop to it, just making sure to exempt myself from compliance.

Its what is perfectly legit that annoys me, because I’ve already opted out of the rest and dont get my phone ringing on those.

I have a landline because cellular technology isn’t mature or robust enough for life-safety applications  (except that’s thwarted by the damn phone companies switching to VoIP which is equally ill-equipped for the job).     We call it the mom phone because the only people with that number that should be calling us are, well, mom.   But really, its there for the life safety systems to communicate and get help in an emergency.

I’d just turn off the ringer and be done with it, if not for the mom-phone aspect.    This just happens to be one of those moments in time where there are a lot of such calls that were conveiently exempted from the Do Not Call implementation.

I figure when the Politicans want to socialize telephone service, then they can start telling me what kinds of calls I have to allow.
