I think what grinds my gears about it, is not the patent or the technology, but the direction we’ve been going on this stuff for awhile now.
Its detracting from the art that the ‘entertainment products’ are. That’s a wierd place to be, when art is done as a comerical product, and not for art’s sake.
I can’t appreciate the art, when the artist (or otherwise ‘owner of the content’) is dictating to me how I go about appreciating it.
I guess I can blame the internet for its mass-reach. Used to be that we had to more physically deliver the content to people to share it. More effort, smaller reach.
I really want to know, though, who is really pushing for per-viewer licensing of media content? People > Profit. Art > Apathy.

When I read this this morning I had two thoughts, just unplug the damn thing, perhaps it could work for lower cost ppviewing by charging a small rate per person instead of the usually exorbitant costs
That said I do find the concept pretty disgusting

Not buying it either way. Microsoft has managed to get back on my blacklist for Windows 8, just when Windows 7 almost had them off of it for the first time in a decade.

Lol I just jumped to windows 8 without realizing it because my new computer came with it. Oh well. I’m just learning to use it. There are all sorts of little things I haven’t figured out. And I never got an xbox, though the new harry potter kinect game is super tempting. lol

Unplug the damn thing is a frequent sentiment… which may be fine until we realize the way this tech gets implemented. Its not likely to be current gen-Kinects. Depending on what folks really want to to do with this, unplugging it may not be an option, not if its used to validate the number of viewers in the first place. “I can’t see you, so you must not be there and thus I will not play the media file you requested. Please login with your face to proceed.”
