Good article, but Anthony Zul has an even better write-up on it.

This is a great article.

There are far too few people talking about this very thing.  We have endured one apocalypse after the other for a number of years, and the effect it has on our lives is of scrambling to hold it together.

Students scrambling to survive while trying to educate themselves.

Parents struggling to make ends meet, not loose their homes, and figuring out what to do about their kids having been sent home from Head Start… or not even being able to afford to send their children to college.

Young adults who cannot possibly move out of their parents homes because of a stagnant economy that holds them back after saddling them with record debt.

30 somethings moving back into their parents homes.

Single parents going without food in order to feed their kids because they’ve had their SNAP benefits taken away from them.

To say nothing of the unemployed, the disenfranchised, the poor..

The list goes on…

But while the American People are taking it on the chin, and pushing through any way they can, our leaders are blind to the havoc they are causing.  Our leaders are beholden to rhetoric, to special interests, to blind ideology.  No matter the pain they are causing in the country.

Americans don’t have the time to take to the streets.  Americans don’t have the time to march on Washington.  Americans don’t have time to be angry.  Because we are too busy holding our lives, and our country, together while our leaders do everything they can to tear it all apart.

There’s been no recovery from the 2008 financial collapse.  Not for the American People.  Wall Street is doing fabulous.  Corporations are raking in record profits.  CEO pay is as high as ever.  The American People are scraping by, and no cares.  No one is talking about it.  No one is paying attention to struggle we are enduring while Washington eats itself.

We are a strong, determined, ambitious, capable people.  We will survive this, but that doesn’t mean we should accept it.
