  1. It was my Birthday…..and it was the first thing I saw when the ‘idiot box’ flickered on in my hotel room. On the west coast, it was a moment that actually has never left the “present” of my mind….the continuous replay of life being extinguished in a single moment- the faces of the people on the viewing platform- forever entwined with the crew. Some so shaken and stunned they had to look away~others, frozen, as if in a state of suspended animation.

It altered me….changed me forever. I felt a pull from my chest. The carefree ‘life of the party’ girl had vanished in an instant. It was the day I truly grew up, as before that day, I had only ‘known’ of the Apollo Astronauts, as a carefree child approaching my 5th birthday, and gushing over the new ‘little Mouse’ (my sister) that had been born barely a week before.

My, how the Events of Seasons upon reflection can take on new and wondrous beauty. I sincerely wish that All of those involved in the Nasa programs that experienced these events first hand are healing and at peace with the Miraculous Spirits that they were graced to have cross their paths- however fleeting or brief. We are certainly the stuff of stars. -k
