Jake Lloyd has talked about people ridiculing him, telling him to his face that he ruined Star Wars, that he is hated and despised. He has been told this so much that he has publicly stated that Star Wars ruined his life, souring him to the film industry, to Star Wars, to the people around him. He has been told this since he was a child. At best, it is some of the worst kind of bullying. Star Wars fans have done this. To Jake Lloyd. To a CHILD.

Stop it. The movie isn’t the best, yes. But that’s not Lloyd’s fault. That’s all on George Lucas and his producers. It was on them to pick Lloyd. It was on them to prepare Lloyd. It was on them to direct Lloyd and make sure his performance was up to par. It was on them to create a narrative Star Wars fans would love. If anyone is at fault, it is them.

But EVEN THEY do not deserve to be spit on to their faces. EVEN THEY don’t deserve your hate mail. EVEN THEY don’t need to be screamed at like someone who literally came into your house and stole your things. That Jake Lloyd, a CHILD who eventually grew into adulthood, had to face the same hatred we’ve given over to George Lucas is appalling.

If you’re the kind of Star Wars fan who did this, I reject you unequivocally. You are no Star Wars fan. You’re scum.
